4 injured in tusker raid

Related imageTT, Jalpaiguri, May 6: Four persons, including two minors, were injured and at least 20 huts were damaged as a tusker raided two areas in Nagrakata .
Sources said the elephant, known as " byanka dantal" (bent tusks), entered Murti forest village on the fringes of Gorumara National Park around 10.30pm yesterday. It wrapped Abiram Oraon, 42, with the trunk and tossed him on the road.
Today around 4am, the tusker entered Carron Tea Estate. Sisters Neha Asur, 11, and Nishita, 9, were injured as a wall of their hut collapsed on them when the animal hit it. Leena Gurung, 32, fell in a ditch when the elephant chased her.
In another incident, two gaurs that strayed out of Diana forest entered Lakkhipara Tea Estate today. The animals could not be located later.
