Missing journalist will not be arrested when he returns: CM

EOI, PTI, HALDIBARI 7 Aug 2015: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who has ordered a CID probe into the case of a north Bengal journalist who went missing, on Thursday evening said he will not be arrested when he returns.
"Someone can go away on his own," she said to queries by reporters in Siliguri. "I know everything but I will not say anything," was her cryptic reply to more questions.
Chayan Sarkar, a reporter of Bengali daily Uttarbanga Sangbad, has been missing from near his home in Alipurduar town since the morning of August 2 after eight persons named by him in an FIR for issuing threats for writing a college admission bribery story, were arrested.
Sarkar's notebook, scooter and purse were found lying in a place. The Chief Minister had ordered the CID probe on August 3 and had sent IGP, North Bengal, Gyanwant Singh to Alipurduar.
The CID had said on Wednesday that it had some leads on the whereabouts of the missing journalist and rubbished the news of finding the scribe at a Guwahati hotel as "rumours".
