Hills students call strike for seat quota
The agitators blocked the Lebong Cart Road for an hour. A paramilitary contingent had to be pressed into service to lift the blockade.
"The norm is to admit 80% students from the Hills and 20% from outside. If students from the Hills don't get priority here then where will they go?" asked SCR president Awanish Rai.
The student's representatives have given the college authorities and the North Bengal University (NBU), to which the institution is affiliated, a 24-hour deadline to address the problem. College officer-in-charge Prajwal Lama said, "I have informed the higher-ups in Kolkata and NBU. I will follow whatever direction I receive." He claimed that there were no written norms for admission of 80% Hills students.
