SNS, Kurseong, 17 August: The Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha (GJMM) has once again started publicly raising the demand for a separate state of Gorkhaland.
The youth wing of the Kurseong sub-division of the GJMM, Yuba Morcha, today organized a big public meeting at Monteviot ground in Kurseong, where youth leaders laid stress on Gorkhaland.
Several GJMM youth activists and supporters from in and around Kurseong sub-division, senior youth leaders and representatives from different places of Darjeeling Hills attended the meeting.
Prior to the meeting, a rally was organized by the Morcha in Kurseong town, demanding Gorkhaland.
Addressing the public meeting, the youth wing’s central committee leader, Prakash Gurung, said they have been keeping up their demand for Gorkhaland since the formation of the GJMM and its youth wing. He said they never dropped the statehood demand.
He added that the party chief Bimal Gurung is completely devoted to fulfilling the aspirations and dreams of the Gorkha Community residing across the country.
“We should contribute and follow each and every decision of our party president as loyal soldiers. Whether an issue of peace or war, we must honour the directives of the party president,” Mr Gurung said.“We should understand that there are different modes of agitation, and not only violence.
Hence, we should never be aggressive and let others know that the Gorkhas are equally daring not only in the field of war but in intellect as well,” he added.
Senior leader of the GJMM youth wing in Kurseong, Suraj Pradhan, said until and unless “we do not discipline ourselves, we will not be able to achieve statehood even in 200 years from now.”
