OBSCENE MMS CIRCULATION

EOI, Jalpaiguri, 18 June 2014: The Jalpaiguri police today arrested five women and a man on charges of physically assaulting and harassing a woman at Ward 9 of Dhupguri. The victim lodged an FIR Monday night with the Dhupguri police station alleging some people from the locality were circulating an obscene MMS of hers.

A police team today visited the locality and started questioning several residents over the matter. This angered some women who went to the victim’s house and started abusing her. When her family members strongly objected to this, the angry women hit the victim on her head with a wooden club and even vandalised her house. But the police were quick to take control of the situation and took the injured woman to the Dhupguri hospital.

During the course of the day, a man was arrested for circulating obscene visual content on the internet. Dhupguri police station OC Jugal Biswas said a man has been held for interrogation while five women have been taken into custody for injuring the victim. The matter is under investigation, he added.
