Drunk man 'attacks' ASI

Deep Gazmer,TNN | May 21, 2014,Darjeeling: An assistant sub-inspector of Darjeeling Sadar police outpost was allegedly attacked by a man in an inebriated condition at Singla tea estate on Monday night. Jiwan Rai received injuries on his head and ears.
The alleged attacker has been identified and a case registered. However, police refused to divulge the name. "We have started a case under an attempt to murder section. But, we have not made any arrests yet," said Darjeeling SP Akhilesh Chaturvedi.
According to police, Rai was at Singla tea estate on Monday night. He was accompanied by four staff members.
He had stopped at a shop selling illegal liquor when the attacker allegedly hit him with a sharp weapon, sources said.
Police have launched raids in Singla to arrest the accused. A probe is on to find the motive behind the attack.
