GTA Chief Gurung to lay the foundation of a college and a model school in Jaldhaka

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 17 February 2014: Bimal Gurung, Chief Executive of GTA will lay the foundation of a multidisciplinary college and a model school in Jaldhaka situated in the remotest corner of Darjeeling District of Indo Bhutan border. 

Gurung has arrived in Jholung from Kalchini to lay the foundation of a proposed multidisciplinary college to be established and constructed in Naxal of Gairibas under Rongo Cinchona and other medicinal plants. The college will be started under the Higher Education establishment of the GTA. 

A Model High school building will also be constructed in Jholung for the already established Jaldhaka Higher Secondary School under Secondary and Higher Secondary Education of the GTA. The building with ICT provisions will be constructed at an estimated cost of Ruppes 3 crore 27 lakh. 

Gurung will also inaugurate Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojana of Kalimpong Sub Division during a joint programme to be held in Jholung on 17th February 2014. The scheme for rural electrification and household electrification will start from the very day, a GTA source said.
Departmental Executive members of GTA, secretaries and other officers of the concerned departments under GTA will attend the official programme added the source.
