EOI, Darjeeling, 19 Feb 2014: The Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxist today formed a seven-member committee for the 2014 Lok Sabha election while calling out to national-level parties to field local candidates.
During a CPRM central committee meeting convened today at the party office in Darjeeling, working president LM Lama said, "We want national-level parties to field local candidates for the LS polls, preferably from the Darjeeling, Terai and Dooars regions to ensure endemic problems get addressed in the proper manner.”
In the event of national parties failing to do so, the CPRM will mull at fielding its own candidate.
"We have kept the option of putting up our own candidate. Let us see what happens," said Lama.
While welcoming the passage of the Telangana Bill, the CPRM strongly criticised the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leadership for not being sincere to the statehood demand.
"It was the uncompromising leadership that resulted in the Telangana state becoming a reality. But in the case of Darjeeling, the GJM settled for a temporary arrangement; otherwise Gorkhaland too would have been achieved," alleged Lama.

Urging the GJM to stop fooling the people with sham demands for statehood, the CPRM suggested the scrapping of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration.
"If GJM leaders are really sincere, they should forsake the GTA as it is nothing but a hindrance to the statehood demand. We will be happy to extend our support if such a thing happens," said the CPRM working president.
