CPRM will hold meeting to fix poll strategy
SNS, Kurseong, 9 January: The Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxist (CPRM) would soon hold its central committee meeting to craft its stance vis-à-vis the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
The party spokesperson, Mr Govind Chettri, said that they are presently engaged in ascertaining the views of the activists and local level leaders regarding the party’s stance for the election.
“Discussion is now on at all the branches of the party in the Hills. We would decide in due course whether we would field a candidate or lend support to any of the candidates,” he added. Mr Chettri further said that the party’s central committee would take the final call after taking the opinions from the crosssections of the party rank and file.
Quizzed over whether there is any possibility of CPRM supporting the candidature of the Darjeeling Dooars United Development Forum (DDUDF) founder, Mahendra P Lama for the Darjeeling Lok Sabha constituency, he said they have not yet received any letter from the
outfit regarding the election.
“However, we would discuss the matter during the party’s central committee meeting,” he said.
Notably, so far, two names have surfaced as candidates for the Darjeeling Lok Sabha constituency.
