K Jayaraman may become North Bengal IG

Debasish Bhowmik, EOI, Siliguri, 5 Dec 2013: Unconfirmed reports say Kaliappan Jayaraman is likely to be appointed as Inspector General of North Bengal.
The former Siliguri police commissioner had been targeted by his political masters for arresting Malda district magistrate Godala Kiran Kumar for the latter’s alleged involvement in the Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority scam when he was at its helm.
After his removal as police commissioner, Jayaraman had met the Director General of West Bengal Police in Kolkata. Commenting on his decision to arrest Kumar, Jayaraman had maintained he had done no wrong and hence had “no regrets”.
Action taken against Jayaraman stormed the political atmosphere of the state and the Opposition grabbed the opportunity to launch agitations against the government building considerable pressure on it.
The state government may bring back Jayaraman as the IG of North Bengal to pacify the angry voices.
