5 dead 6 injured in Bolero mishap
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 4 October 2013: During a tragic accident in NH 31 A near Geilkhola 5 people are feared dead. 6 other passengers of the ill fated Bolero Suv bearing registration number SK 01J 1900 escaped while the vehicle plunged into the river Teesta.
The vehicle was travelling from Gangtok and heading towards Siliguri.
The one of the feared dead has been identified as Ram Krishna Rai of Pache Samsing (Sikkim), Dipak Kumar Gupta, Ganesh Kumar Gupta of Sikkim, Bilawal Hussain of Islampur and Tek Bahadur Bhujel of Gurung Busty, Siliguri.
Bhujel is the driver of the vehicle. The truck driver Sawan Dukpa is arrested by the police. The accident took place at around 10 a.m in the morning.
While negotiating a turning the vehicle collided with a truck coming from Siliguri and hit the truck and skidded off the road and fell into the river Teesta.
The six managed to swim safely and were rescued by the local people and were admitted at the Rambi Block Primary Health Centre
Sahimuddin Miya with fractured hand is being treated in the BPHC.
With the help of the rafting team the vehicle was fished out. The Vehicle was recovered around 4 p.m with the help of Van and rafting member.
