PM to Dedicate 75 Redeveloped Railway Stations to the Nation Today
Developed at a cost of about ₹1,570 crore, these stations have been transformed into modern, passenger-friendly transport hubs while preserving their regional identity.
The redevelopment embodies the vision of "Virasat Bhi, Vikas Bhi", blending heritage with modern infrastructure.
Eastern Railway has 64 stations identified under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, of which six have already been inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
On Friday, he will inaugurate Shivnarayanpur Railway Station under Malda Division, marking the seventh redeveloped ABSS station of Eastern Railway to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
Shivnarayanpur Railway Station has been redeveloped under Phase I of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at a sanctioned cost of ₹17.94 crore.
The redevelopment has transformed the station into a modern, accessible and aesthetically appealing passenger facility while celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Bihar.
Serving as an important rail gateway for the people of Bhagalpur district in Bihar, the station holds strategic significance for the surrounding region.
Bhagalpur, popularly known as the "Silk City of India", is renowned for its centuries-old silk weaving tradition and rich cultural legacy.
The redeveloped station is expected to significantly enhance passenger convenience, improve regional connectivity and facilitate easier access to education, healthcare, trade and employment opportunities.
The station's redevelopment reflects this legacy through its architecture and cultural elements.
It features a grand entrance portico, an airport-inspired façade with extensive glazing and premium ACP cladding, landscaped green spaces, pedestrian-friendly circulation areas and improved accessibility.
Madhubani paintings and heritage-inspired artworks adorn waiting halls and other passenger areas, highlighting Bihar's artistic traditions.
Inspired by Vikramshila's enduring legacy, the station symbolises the journey from knowledge to progress, connecting the region's glorious past with its aspirations for the future.
The redeveloped station offers upgraded waiting halls, improved toilets, enhanced lighting, digital passenger information systems, better signage, a redesigned circulating area, parking facilities, lifts, a new foot overbridge and improved accessibility features for Divyangjan passengers, ensuring a safe, comfortable and world-class travel experience.
The redevelopment of Shivnarayanpur Railway Station marks another milestone in Eastern Railway's commitment to modern, sustainable and passenger-centric infrastructure while preserving the region's cultural identity.
