West Bengal Govt Begins Disbursing DR Arrears to Retired Employees
According to a recent notification, the arrears pertain to the period between April 2008 and December 2015.
The notification states that in cases where a government employee or pensioner has passed away, the pending DR arrears will be paid to the nominee or legal heir.
The government noted that in many instances, the concerned employee or pensioner died before the arrears could be released, leading to complications in the payment process.
Under the revised provisions, if the nominee’s details are already registered with the concerned department, the arrears will be disbursed directly to the nominee.
In cases where the family pension recipient and the registered nominee are the same person, the amount will be credited directly to their bank account.
However, where no nominee has been recorded, the legal heirs will be required to submit the necessary documents.
The arrears will be released after due verification by the authorities.
Meanwhile, the state government has also started releasing pending Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears to retired government employees.
The arrears currently being disbursed cover the period from April 2008 to December 2015.
Officials said the move is expected to benefit a large number of retired employees, pensioners and their families who have been awaiting the release of the pending dues for several years.
