Siliguri: RPF Arrests Eight Bangladeshi Nationals

MP, June 8, 2026, Siliguri : As many as eight Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) from Siliguri Junction railway station on Sunday evening and later handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) for further investigation.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Momin, Sourav Roy, Kamal Chandra Roy, Abhishek Roy, Jayanta Roy, Titon Chandra Roy, Gobinda Roy, and Sanjit Roy.

They are residents of Bangladesh’s Dinajpur and Nilphamari districts.

According to police sources, the group had allegedly entered India illegally through the Raiganj border at different times over the past eight months after paying around Rs 12,000 each to a broker.

They were reportedly working as labourers in various states, including Delhi.

They travelled from Delhi to Radhikapur via the North East Express and later reached Siliguri Junction.

Investigators suspect they were planning to return to Bangladesh through Haldibari with the help of brokers.

They will be produced before a Siliguri court on Monday.
