Retired Cop of Darjeeling Held in Human Trafficking Case

MP, June 8, 2026, Siliguri: A retired police officer from Darjeeling has been arrested in connection with an investigation into an alleged international human trafficking network with links to Thailand.

The accused, identified as Ravi Diyali, recently retired from service as a Sub-Inspector.

According to investigators, several crucial leads emerged during an ongoing probe into a suspected trafficking racket operating across international borders.

Based on those findings, police arrested Diyali and are examining his possible involvement in the network.

When produced before the Siliguri court on Saturday, Diyali denied all allegations and claimed that he had been falsely implicated in the case.

The development follows the recent arrest of two Thai women and an Indian driver at the Panitanki Indo-Nepal border in Kharibari.

The accused women were allegedly attempting to enter Nepal using forged immigration stamps on their passports.

During verification, SSB personnel detected irregularities in the immigration stamps and detained the women.

Preliminary investigation revealed that they had allegedly been staying in India since July last year on expired visas and were attempting to cross into Nepal using forged documents.

While investigating the case, police found links with Diyali and arrested him.

Further investigation is ongoing.
