MGNREGA Work Resumes in West Bengal After Nearly Four-Year Suspension


MP, June 5, 2026, Kolkata: After a nearly four-year suspension, MGNREGA work resumed in West Bengal on June 1 with the Centre approving 1.5 crore mandays for June.

State Panchayat minister Dilip Ghosh announced that from July 1, the scheme will transition to VB-G RAM G, offering 125 days of employment annually.

He also unveiled a fresh PMAY-G survey, panchayat audits, staff transfers, recruitment plans, and measures to strengthen rural governance, transparency and livelihoods across the state.
