Amul expansion discussions in West Bengal: Suvendu Adhikari meets GCMMF officials
In a post on X, Adhikari said he had a courtesy meeting with Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) Managing Director Jayen Mehta and Amit Vyas of the Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union.
“The meeting involved detailed discussions on the organisation’s expansion in West Bengal, investment potential, and the development of the dairy sector. The discussion was extremely fruitful, and I am optimistic that new horizons will open up in the future through mutual cooperation between West Bengal and Amul,” the chief minister said.
Adhikari said the expansion of a large and reputed organisation such as Amul in West Bengal would play a major role in the state’s economic development, employment growth and advancement of the dairy industry.
The CM did not speak about investment in his post.
The dairy cooperative had announced at the 2025 Bengal Global Business Summit that it was considering an investment of around Rs 600 crore in West Bengal for setting up a large dairy processing plant.
The proposed project was aimed at strengthening milk procurement, processing and value-added dairy production in the state, while creating opportunities for local dairy farmers and could be one of the largest plants of Amul in the country.
