Sikkim CEO Holds Meeting with Political Parties Ahead of Voter Roll Revision Exercise
He said the booth-level officers (BLOs) will make house-to-house visits till June 28 to distribute enumeration forms among voters and collect them.
The release of the draft electoral rolls will take place on July 5, Yadav said.
Claims and objections can be filed between July 5 and August 4.
The disposal of claims and objections can be carried out between July 5 and September 2, the CEO said, adding that the final electoral rolls will be released on September 6.
Yadav held a meeting on the implementation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process with representatives of political parties at the conference hall of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer on May 18, following the Election Commission’s direction to conduct the voter roll revision exercise in 16 states and three Union Territories, an official statement said.
“The SIR is a participative exercise involving all stakeholders, including electors, political parties and election officials,” the CEO said.
He said the SIR is being undertaken to remove ineligible voters from the electoral rolls in the state.
The last SIR took place in 2002, which also serves as evidence of voters’ eligibility, he said.
During the meeting, the CEO extensively spoke about the actions to be taken by booth-level agents of political parties and electors in the process of distribution and submission of enumeration forms, the statement said.
Yadav also highlighted the Election Commission-prescribed documents to be submitted by electors for inclusion in the voter lists if their names are not found in the 2002 rolls.
He also gave a detailed description of the ECINET app, through which electors can search for their details and book a call with a BLO belonging to their respective area.
Sikkim currently has around 4.7 lakh voters.
