Police Recover Cash Allegedly Hidden Underground by Baduria Municipality Chairman
Following the chairman’s arrest, police, during interrogation, learnt that he had allegedly buried a large amount of cash underground on agricultural land.
On Wednesday, Bhattacharya took a police team to the spot, where, after hours of excavation, cops reportedly recovered five bags and a sack full of money.
The cash was seized and taken to the Baduria police station for counting.
Meanwhile, Bhattacharya’s personal assistant, Shamim Gazi, was arrested from Baduria’s Bantuldanga area.
Earlier, police raided a computer centre adjacent to the chairman’s house and found a huge amount of money.
Late on Monday night, police arranged three cash-counting machines, and after several hours, it was found that nearly Rs 80 lakh had been concealed inside the computer centre.
Later, a police team tracked Bhattacharya to a hotel and arrested him.
