The cultural programs, mesmerizing performances, and the enthusiastic participation of the people, combined with the breathtaking backdrop of mountains and sky, created a magical atmosphere. “It felt as if nature and culture had come alive together. These memories will remain in my heart forever,” observed Modi.

Sharing his personal sentiments, the Prime Minister spoke about his long-awaited visit to Sikkim. He recalled a previous instance when adverse weather conditions prevented him from reaching Gangtok, forcing him to connect virtually from Bagdogra. “That wait has been fulfilled today through this occasion,” stated Modi.

Highlighting the warmth of the people of Sikkim, he appreciated their simplicity, kindness, and ever-smiling faces, which bring him a sense of peace. Before the main event, he interacted with several eminent personalities, including Padma awardees, artists, sportspersons, and distinguished citizens. “Meeting the people of Sikkim always gives me a different kind of contentment,” remarked Modi.

Recalling the previous evening’s roadshow, the Prime Minister described it as an unforgettable celebration of unity in diversity. From Ganju Lama Dwar to Lok Bhawan, the streets came alive with participation from 21 ethnic communities, each showcasing their unique traditions, attire, and music. “The sight was like different colors blooming in the lap of nature, with our beloved tricolor in people's hands and resonating chants of Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Vande Mataram; The entire atmosphere reflected the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,” noted Modi

Making a solemn assurance, he said, “I assure you that I will leave no stone unturned in repaying this debt of your love, affection, and blessings.”

Describing Sikkim’s journey as one rooted in both heritage and development, the Prime Minister acknowledged the efforts of generations in shaping the state’s progress. He reiterated the government’s commitment to the Northeast, referring to it as India’s ‘Asht Lakshmi,’ and emphasized the dual focus on the ‘Act East’ and ‘Act Fast’ policies.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the projects launched today aim to address critical needs across sectors, including restoring connectivity in North Sikkim following challenges faced after 2023. “We have focused on strengthening connectivity wherever it was impacted,” highlighted Modi.

Focusing on tourism, he described it as Sikkim’s greatest strength. Despite covering less than one percent of India’s geographical area, the state boasts over 25 percent of the country’s floral diversity, hundreds of bird and butterfly species, lush forests, and the majestic Kangchenjunga. “With so much to offer, everyone wants to visit Sikkim again and again,” remarked Modi.

He stressed that tourism growth depends on strong infrastructure. Significant progress has been made in road construction, with highways expanding and connectivity reaching remote villages. Key projects such as the Bagdogra-Gangtok expressway and the Sevok-Rangpo rail line are set to transform accessibility. “For the first time, railways are reaching Sikkim,” highlighted Modi.

Innovative tourism initiatives, including ropeways at Bhaleydhunga, Yen-Yeng, and Pelling, along with skywalk projects and enhanced border tourism at Nathula and Namli, are underway. “These efforts will make your lives easier, increase tourist numbers, boost your income, and create more employment opportunities,” assured Modi.

Promoting eco-wellness tourism, the government is supporting the construction of 1,000 homestays and strengthening adventure tourism infrastructure. “We are creating opportunities for local communities to benefit directly from tourism,” remarked Modi.

Turning to sports, the Prime Minister praised Sikkim’s youth for excelling in football, boxing, and archery. Initiatives such as Khelo India and Fit India Movement are helping nurture talent, alongside plans for a state-of-the-art boxing academy and integrated sports infrastructure. “These will provide better facilities to Sikkim's youth and help them shine even brighter in their sports,” remarked Modi.

In the healthcare sector, he highlighted significant improvements, including the functioning of approximately 200 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, district hospitals, and wellness centers. The inauguration of the Drejong Namgyal Sowa Rigpa Hospital will further strengthen healthcare services. Affordable treatment initiatives, including Ayushman Bharat and Jan Aushadhi Kendras, are reducing medical expenses for citizens.

The Prime Minister also emphasized Sikkim’s leadership in sustainable development. Declared a fully organic state in 2016, Sikkim continues to lead in natural farming. Crops such as large cardamom, ginger, turmeric, avocado, and kiwi are gaining global recognition, supported by organic processing facilities. “Sikkim's organic and natural farming model is an inspiration for the entire country. Your lifestyle and resolve have become part of the nation's vision,” stated Modi.

Highlighting the role of women and self-help groups, he noted how digital platforms like ‘Swayam Sikkim’ are expanding market access and empowering communities. He also praised environmental initiatives such as ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ and ‘Mero Rukh Mero Santati,’ which promote tree plantation and ecological responsibility. “I believe this initiative is an inspiration for the entire world,” said Modi.

Calling for continued dedication to environmental conservation, he described it as a legacy for future generations. “This is our legacy that we must protect for future generations,” stressed Modi.
