The inauguration ceremony was conducted from Palzor Stadium in the esteemed presence of Om Prakash Mathur, Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim; Prem Singh Tamang, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim; and Santanu Kumar Swain, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the University.

As the only Central University in Sikkim, Sikkim University holds a unique and vital role in advancing higher education in the region. The newly inaugurated campus at Yangang spans approximately 265.94 acres and has been developed in phases with the support of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Equipped with digital classrooms, advanced laboratories, and a dynamic academic environment, the campus is well-positioned to foster excellence across its existing 33 departments, with ample scope for future expansion. More than just a physical space, it represents a vision realized—a vibrant hub where tradition meets technology, and where future leaders will grow amidst the serenity of nature. This campus will not only nurture academic excellence but also empower the youth of the Eastern Himalayas to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress.

The Vice-Chancellor, Santanu Kumar Swain, expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the entire university community to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for graciously inaugurating the long-awaited campus at Yangang.
