SIFF Film Market to Create Opportunities for Filmmakers from Sikkim and Neighbouring Regions
Organised by the Information & Public Relations Department, Government of Sikkim, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), the initiative aims to create a vibrant marketplace that supports filmmakers, producers, distributors and content creators.
The SIFF Film Market is being carefully curated at Chintan Bhawan, Gangtok, with the active support from local filmmakers and professionals from the film fraternity in the State.
While the screening of international, national and regional films and red carpet events will be held at INOX Multiplex at West Point Mall, simultaneously the SIFF Film Market will engage aspiring and established film professionals from 20th to 22nd March, 2026.
A major highlight of the Film Market will be the pitch sessions dedicated to filmmakers from Sikkim and neighbouring region, offering them an opportunity to present their projects to industry professionals.
The platform will also host co-production meetings, enabling filmmakers and producers to explore collaborative ventures.
A Pitching Review Committee comprising acclaimed filmmakers Mr Prashant Rasaily, Mr Samten Bhutia and Mr Aditya Cintury will review the individual pitches by interested film makers and professionals at the office of the Chairman, Sikkim Film Promotion Board, Manan Kendra, Gangtok, on March 17, 2026 from 11.00 am onwards.
This will provide an opportunity for the prospective participants to fine tune their pitch and also receive expert guidance from the Pitching Committee.
Another major highlight of Sikkim International Film Festival 2026 is the exclusive Masterclass by eminent filmmaker Mr Imtiaz Ali, scheduled for 19th March at INOX Multiplex, West Point Mall, Gangtok.
It will provide film students, filmmakers and film enthusiasts a meaningful platform to gain valuable knowledge.
Further, the SIFF Film Market will provide distribution opportunities for films while dedicated networking lounges will allow participants to engage in discussions, build partnerships and expand professional connections.
The initiative will significantly enhance the discoverability of films from the region by connecting regional filmmakers with national and international buyers, producers and platforms.
Through the SIFF Film Market, the festival aims to open new avenues for Sikkim’s filmmakers to engage with global distributors, producers, OTT platforms and studios, thereby strengthening the region’s presence in the broader film ecosystem.
The SIFF Film Market is being organised with the active support and participation of the members of the film fraternity of Sikkim, under the guidance of Chairman, Sikkim Film Promotion Board, Mr Tashi Tshering Bhutia.
The SIFF Film Market is a well-thought-of initiative under the guidance and vision of Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang to create a viable ecosystem for the film fraternity of Sikkim to explore the opportunities in the sector.
