Nepal Supreme Court Orders Removal of RSP Candidate from Financial Blacklist

PTI, March 12, 2026, Kathmandu: The Supreme Court of Nepal on Thursday issued an order to remove a Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate from a financial blacklist in connection with a Madhesh Province constituency election.

Kishori Sah’s candidature in the March 5 polls from the Dhanusha 1 constituency was cancelled by the Election Commission of Nepal two days before the elections after his name was included on the blacklist.

Sah filed a writ petition against the decision, following which the court issued an interim order removing him from the blacklist, according to Arjun Prasad Koirala, spokesperson of the top court.

The Election Commission on Wednesday declared Matrika Yadav of the Communist Party of Nepal the winner from the Dhanusha 1 constituency.

Despite the cancellation of Sah’s candidacy, the RSP’s election symbol received a significant number of votes in the constituency.

The court will now deliver its final decision on Friday on who the winner will be — Yadav or Sah, who reportedly received the highest number of votes.
