Lowest Temperature Likely to Drop to 15 Degrees Towards End of Week: MeT
On Tuesday, the city recorded a lowest temperature of 20°C, which dropped to 17°C on Wednesday morning. The weather office predicted that the lowest temperature may further decline to 15°C towards the end of the week. In the western districts of Bengal, temperatures may dip below 14°C, while in some parts of North Bengal, temperatures could fall to 3-4°C.
Though there had been a slight rise in temperatures in recent days, many had hoped for a harsher winter in Bengal this December. However, that expectation has not been met over the past few days. The temperature on Tuesday was above normal, but experts have now pointed out that temperatures will decrease as the skies clear. Intense winter conditions are expected over the weekend.
Residents will witness fog in the mornings, which will gradually disperse later in the day. Kolkata's temperature may hover around 14-15°C on Friday and Saturday, according to weather predictions. The temperature in the districts is expected to be around 11°C, while the city's maximum temperature will remain at approximately 27°C.
Currently, there is a chance of fog in all districts of South Bengal, with visibility around 200 meters in some places. There is no chance of rain for now, and the weather will remain dry across the state for the next week. While the minimum temperatures in South Bengal are expected to gradually fall by 3-4°C, temperatures in North Bengal will dip by 2-3°C over the next four days.
