Three Arrested with Methamphetamine and Heroin Worth Rs 41.64 Crore in Mizoram


PTI, November 21, 2025, Aizawl : In a significant drug bust, the police have seized large quantities of methamphetamine tablets and heroin, with a combined value of Rs 41.64 crore, in separate operations over the past two days in Mizoram, according to a statement released on Friday.

Two men from Assam and one from Manipur were arrested in connection with the seizure of the contraband.

In an operation on Thursday night, a team from the CID (Special Branch) confiscated 49.244 kilograms of methamphetamine tablets, commonly known as YABA, from a 12-wheeler truck on the northeastern outskirts of Aizawl. The police statement confirmed the seizure, stating that two residents of Hailakandi in Assam were arrested for possessing the methamphetamine, which is valued at Rs 39.39 crore.

In a separate operation on Friday, Saitual police recovered 1.12 kilograms of heroin hidden in 89 soap cases from a vehicle en route to Aizawl. The driver of the car, a resident of Manipur, was apprehended for transporting the heroin, which is valued at Rs 2.25 crore.

The statement further noted that investigations into both cases are ongoing.

Earlier on Thursday, the Border Security Force, along with the Mizoram Excise and Narcotics Department, seized 14.905 kg of methamphetamine tablets and 707 grams of heroin, worth over Rs 26 crore, during a joint operation on NH-6 between Seiling and Tuirial, near Aizawl.
