Tension in Howrah Over Allegations of Sexual Harassment

Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, March 27, 2025, Kolkata :  Tension prevailed in Howrah on Wednesday night following allegations of sexual harassment against two Class 9 students. According to police and local sources, a drawing teacher from Howrah and his friend allegedly attempted to harass the students by offering them cold drinks laced with drugs.

Although the incident reportedly took place last Sunday, the students initially remained silent. However, after revealing the ordeal to their families, the victims' relatives filed a formal complaint at Lilua police station on Wednesday night. The families also alleged that the students were so traumatized by the incident that they attempted to harm themselves.

Authorities have disclosed that similar accusations had previously been made against the accused drawing teacher. However, due to his father’s influence as a leader in the ruling party, students were reportedly hesitant to speak out against him. Following the latest complaint, both the drawing teacher and his accomplice have gone into hiding. The police have launched an intensive search operation to apprehend the suspects and ensure justice for the victims.

Law enforcement officials have assured that strict action will be taken and have urged anyone with information to come forward. The case highlights the urgent need for vigilance in safeguarding student welfare and reinforcing protective measures within educational environments.
