India and US Pledge to Double Trade by 2030 Following Modi-Trump Meeting

Don't Miss

Baby Chakraborty, Delhi, February 14, 2025 : In a significant development during a three-day visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the United States, both leaders committed to doubling the trade between India and the US by 2030. The bilateral discussions, which took place amid a series of geopolitical and economic topics, have focused heavily on strengthening economic ties between the two nations.

Modi’s visit, while also drawing attention for his previous remarks on US President Donald Trump’s controversial immigration policies, has now been overshadowed by the trade and defense agreements announced. At a press conference following their meeting, the two leaders revealed that they had pledged a combined investment of $500 billion (approximately Rs 43,41,987 crore) in sectors such as energy, defense, and technology by 2030. The commitment aims to enhance collaboration between the two countries and increase their mutual economic growth.

Adding to the significance of this meeting, Prime Minister Modi echoed Trump’s famous campaign slogan with a new twist, saying, "Make India Great Again," a sentiment similar to Trump’s own "Make America Great Again." Both leaders have placed high hopes on the strengthened partnership.

One of the most notable developments from this meeting was the announcement that NASA and ISRO, India’s space agency, would collaborate on space research, highlighting growing cooperation in technological advancements. Moreover, President Trump confirmed that the US would be selling one of its most advanced fighter jets to India, reinforcing military ties between the nations amid growing regional tensions.

The discussion also touched on the ongoing trade disputes, with both parties agreeing to work together on resolving issues related to tariffs. Trump emphasized that America would continue to support India, assuring a united front on various global issues.

International analysts are optimistic about the potential positive impacts of this meeting for India’s future. However, as the world watches closely, the effectiveness of these agreements in the long term will remain to be seen.
