Child care leave guidelines for teachers during Madhyamik

Don't Miss

MP, Jan 2025, Kolkata: The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has announced that teachers and non-teaching staff at Madhyamik 2025 centres will be granted Child Care Leave (CCL) and paternity leave if their children are appearing for the secondary or higher secondary exams of any statutory board.
According to a notification issued on Wednesday by Subrata Ghosh, secretary of the Board, staff wishing to apply for these leaves must submit an undertaking along with necessary documents such as the exam routine, admit card, or their child’s school identity card.
Applications should be submitted at least three weeks prior to the intended leave date to allow schools ample time for planning and staff allocation.
Leave requests will be processed by the Head of Institution (HoI), subject to approval from the school’s managing committee. However, teachers availing of this leave will still be required to check answer scripts for the Madhyamik.
The notification also highlights that if additional staff is required for the exams, the District Inspector (DI) will allocate personnel from non-venue schools.Teachers and non-teaching staff whose children are appearing for the exams but do not take leave will be allowed to continue their duties, excluding responsibilities such as entering the strong room, handling question papers and invigilation.
The Board has discouraged taking other forms of leave during the examination period, urging all staff to prioritise the smooth conduct of the exams.
