Major Train Collision Near Chennai: Bagmati Express and Freight Train Collide, Multiple Casualties Reported

The express train, which was en route to Andhra Pradesh, collided with the freight train around 8:30 PM, shortly after departing from Perambu station.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the passenger express, initially traveling at speeds of up to 109 km/h, began to decelerate as it approached the loop line. However, it was still reportedly running at approximately 90 km/h when it struck the rear of a freight car that was stationed on the loop line.

The impact of the collision was catastrophic, causing four air-conditioned coaches to overturn and damaging two additional coaches. In a further escalation of the disaster, a power car and a motor van caught fire due to the collision. Emergency services have been deployed to the scene, with firefighters working to extinguish the blaze and rescue operations underway.
