Sandeep Ghosh Arrested; Fire Breaks Out at Nizam Palace
Don't Miss
Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, September 3, 2024, Kolkata: Sandeep Ghosh, who has been in the headlines since the RG Kar Medical College scandal, was arrested by the CBI on Monday. He was taken into custody in connection with financial irregularities related to RG Kar.
Less than 24 hours later, on Tuesday morning, a fire broke out at Nizam Palace, which houses the CBI office near Camac Street.
The fire reportedly started in the quarters of central government officials. Local residents acted swiftly to prevent the fire from spreading further and informed the fire brigade. Three fire engines arrived at the scene. However, the fire was largely brought under control by the efforts of the locals.
The exact cause of the fire remains unclear, though it is suspected that it may have originated from a cooking mishap involving two cylinders and an oven. Investigations are underway to determine the cause.
Although the CBI office is situated a distance away within the Nizam Palace complex, the news of the fire caused a stir among the officials.
Following his arrest on Monday evening, Sandeep Ghosh and three others were brought to the CBI office. Sandeep, along with Afsar Ali, Suman Hazra, and Biplab Singh, was arrested in connection with the financial corruption case. Suman and Biplab are hospital vendors, while Afsar is Sandeep's bodyguard.
Sandeep was initially summoned by the CBI on Monday and taken from the CGO Complex to Nizam Palace in the evening. Later, the investigating agency officially announced his arrest. The three others were also arrested later that night.
The CBI continues its investigation into the financial irregularities, and further developments are awaited.
