Five wagons of empty goods train derail at New Maynaguri railway station in Jalpaiguri, none injured: Northeast Frontier Railway
Restoration work has been initiated and train movement through New Maynaguri is expected to restart by noon, an NFR official said

PTI, Calcutta, 24.09.24 : Five wagons of an empty goods train derailed at New Maynaguri railway station in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district on Tuesday morning, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) officials said.
No injuries were reported in the incident that occurred at 6.20 am, they said.
The empty goods train coming from Guwahati was moving towards New Jalpaiguri railway station near Siliguri.
Train movement on the route was partially restored at 12.30 pm, Divisional Railway Manager, Alipurduar, Amar jit Gautam said.
"Work to remove the damaged wagons is underway and after it is completed and overhead traction is restored, normal operations will resume," he said.
Gautam said that Guwahati-bound North-East Express was the first train to pass the area after partial restoration at New Maynaguri.
Another NFR official said that several trains were diverted through other routes following the incident. The route connects the northeastern states with other parts of the country.
Overhead electricity cables and a few poles were damaged owing to the derailment, the official said, adding that there are five parallel rail tracks in the area and a few of these got blocked.
Senior officials have rushed to the spot and will hold an inquiry to ascertain the cause of the derailment, he said.
