NH 10 Reopens from August 23 for Small Vehicles and Minibuses; SH 12 Opens for Small Vehicles

KalimNews, Kalimpong, August 22, 2024 : After a 15-day closure for repairs, National Highway 10 (NH-10) will partially reopen from August 23, 2024, for small vehicles and minibuses. District Magistrate Balasubramanian T has announced updated traffic guidelines effective from August 23, 2024, to facilitate ongoing road repairs and ensure public safety.

Movement Permissions:
NH-10: Small vehicles and minibuses (up to 32 seats) can travel between Seti Jhora and Rangpoo from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Goods Vehicles and Buses (Above 32 Seats): Permitted to travel via Reshi—Pedong—Algarah—Lava—Gorubathan to Siliguri around the clock.
Heavy Vehicles (up to 8 tonnes): Allowed access from Algarah to Kalimpong Town between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
SH 12: Open for small vehicles traveling from Kalimpong to Darjeeling via Tista.

Vehicle Restrictions:
Heavy vehicles are restricted on NH-10 between Seti Jhora and Rangpoo and above 8 tonnes on the route from Gorubathan Pandara to Reshi via Lava -Algarah- Pedong and Gorubathan Pandara to Kalimpong via Lava -Algarah.
SH 12 (Kalimpong to Darjeeling via Tista) remains closed to heavy vehicles due to road subsidence at Deogram and Krishnagram.

Alternative Routes:
Small vehicles can use the route from Rangpoo to Siliguri via Munsong—17th Mile—Algarah—Lava—Gorubathan.
An alternative route from Kalimpong to Siliguri includes Relli—Samthar—Panbu.
Traffic Management:
Single-lane traffic will be maintained at key locations including Selfie Dara, Bhuichaley, and various miles along NH-10. Traffic restrictions will be enforced at checkpoints such as Rangpoo, Reshi, and Teesta Bazaar.
Adjustments to restrictions and diversions may occur based on situational needs to ensure public safety.
