Don't Miss

Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, August 30, 2024, Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed strong dissatisfaction with the work of several ministers in the state cabinet meeting on Wednesday. According to sources from Nabanna, the Chief Minister criticized the performance of ministers in charge of Irrigation, Panchayat, Public Health and Engineering (PHE), and the Law Department.

The state government is already under significant pressure due to the RG Kar case, and this cabinet meeting added to the tension. According to insiders, Mamata Banerjee expressed her displeasure over the inefficiencies in various departments, stating that the work for the common people was being disrupted. She emphasized, "If such things continue, I won’t let it go. I am receiving field reports from every district. Everyone has to work properly."

Following this, the Chief Minister began questioning the ministers individually, sources said. She particularly expressed her dissatisfaction with the Law Department's performance. Addressing Law Minister Malay Ghatak, she said, "If you can't manage, I will have to take charge. What are you doing in law? Couldn’t you do anything about the ban?"

After the Law Minister, Public Health Engineering (PHE) Minister Pulak Roy was also questioned. Sources report that Mamata Banerjee asked Pulak Roy, "What are you doing? There are complaints about your department's work. Roads are being opened, but repair work is not being done. Such complaints have been submitted. Do the right thing." She further directed Pulak Roy to hold a meeting with ministers from other departments to coordinate better.

Amid ongoing political and administrative challenges, including injuries to several police personnel during Tuesday's Nabanna operation, the Chief Minister instructed senior ministers like Firhad Hakim and Shovandev Chattopadhyay to visit the injured policemen who are currently undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
