3 killed as car rolls 500 feet from hill near Lava

YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, JUNE 5, 2024 : Three people were killed on the spot early on Wednesday when a Maruti vehicle which was coming from Patharjhora in Doors and going to Fikle in Kalimpong Sangse via Lava, fell almost 500 feet down the road after the driver lost control.
Driver Divesh Chhetri (34), Bimal Chhetri (35) and Abhivan Chhetri, a three-month-old child, died on the spot.
Bimal Chhetri's wife Neha Tamang Chhetri (24) and Abhi Chhetri (4) were seriously injured in the incident. Neha Tamang Chhetri is currently undergoing treatment at Kalimpong District Hospital, while Abhi Chhetri has been referred to North Bengal Medical College, Siliguri, from Kalimpong District Hospital for treatment.
The bodies of those who died in the incident were sent to the Kalimpong District Hospital for post-mortem and later handed over to the family.
Lava police station in-charge Prateek Subba, Pedong CI Partho Roy along with a police team reached the spot at midnight and retrieved the bodies and rescued the injured passengers with the help of local people
