PRASHANT ACHARYA, EOI, SILIGURI, APRIL 23, 2024 : Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee on Tuesday called Trinamool candidate for Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat Gopal Lama a ‘Bhumiputra” and BJP candidate Raju Bista as “migratory bird.”
Addressing an election meeting in support of Gopal Lama at Gosainpur near Bagdogra, he accused the Narendra Modi government of not fulfilling the demands of the Gorkha people. He said Raju Bista said during the Covid-19 pandemic Raju Bista did not help the people of Darjeeling but Trinamool activists played an important role in supporting people.
He accused the BJP of forcing the Election Commission to organize the Lok Sabha elections in seven phases in West Bengal in scorching heat so that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah could campaign before every phase.
A similar thing happened during the 2021assembly election when polling was held in eight phases. Following this, there was a new wave of pandemic in the state
