CPI (M) to support Munish Tamang in Darjeeling Lok Sabha

YAWAN GURUNG, EOI, MIRIK, APRIL 3, 2024 : The CPI (M) has decided to support Congress candidate Munish Tamang in the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat in the spirit of the INDIA alliance, CPI (M) leader Saman Pathak told reporters in Mirik on Wednesday.
He said it was necessary for the Congress candidate to win at Darjeeling to provide an alternative and for the sake of the people of the hills. The BJP had only played with the feelings of the people. The BJP had never wanted the welfare of the Gorkha community.
They had done nothing for the permanent political solution or scheduled tribe status for the 11 left-out Gorkha communities.
The Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal had never cared for the development of the hills, nor had taken care of the poor. Corruption had started in the hills after the coming into power of the Trinamool government in the state.
Only the INDIA alliance could do something in the interest of the people of the hills, Pathak said.
