Manoj Tigga thanks BJP leadership for LS nomination
RAJESH SHARMA, EOI, JAIGAON, MARCH 3, 2024 : BJP MLA from Madarihat Manoj Tigga on Sunday thanked the central and the West Bengal state leadership of BJP for giving him nomination for the Alipurduar Lok Sabha seat in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
“I would like to thank the central and the state leadership that they party has once again trusted me. My victory is certain,” Tigga told the EOI in an interview.
He said the central leadership of the BJP had put faith in him on a number of occasions in the past in assembly and Lok Sabha elections. He had helped the BJP to consolidate its hold in north Bengal.
He said the slogan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was that the country would not develop as long as the north-east did not develop.
Keeping this in mind, he had worked out different types of schemes for the north-east. “You know what work has been announced and what work is being done.”
Under the federal structure of the government, the support of the state government was necessary to do any kind of work, he said.
The ruling party in West Bengal should think of the welfare of the people and the future of the country and take advantage of the schemes the Centre was offering. The north Bengal region must not remain untouched by the process of development.
Under the rule of the previous Left Front government the tea gardens in north Bengal had suffered and, along with them the tea garden workers comprising tribal and Gorkha people.
People in West Bengal had brought the Trinamool Congress in power in the state with a lot of hope but conditions had worsened.
Between 40 and 50 teagardens had closed one after another. Improving the condition of the tea industry in north Bengal would be one of his first priorities as the M.P. of the region.
