Darjeeling District Hospital gets refurbished paediatric ward, cabins for patients
Don't Miss
The paediatric ward located on the third floor of the district hospital was in a poor condition for several years.“ The paediatric ward for the children was inaugurated today after renovation. In the new ward, we have provided new monitors. We have also established a nurse’s station inside the ward. The toilet facility was deplorable which we have addressed.
This apart, we have replaced the broken and shattered windows,” the GTA Deputy Chairman Rajesh Chowhan said. H is also in charge of the GTA health department. The hospital has also been equipped with a changing room for family members of the patients. “There was also no place for people who brought patients to change their clothes if they had to stay overnight. We have now set up a changing room,” said Chowhan, adding other renovation work was in progress from the ground floor.
Paediatric doctor of the hospital Dr Nitu Sharma said: “It has been more than 20years that I have been working here and this is the first time that it has been renovated. We are very happy that this was made, and we also appeal to the patients to keep the place clean and nice.” She added that the paediatric ward was now 30-bed. The District Medical Officer Health was trying to upgrade it into a 50-bedone.
The GTA Deputy Chairman cabin facilities which had been lying unused in the hospital were being started. “The cabins were also started today.
Whoever needs one can follow the proper rules to get it after contacting the hospital superintendent. Earlier staff members from outstation had occupied the cabins for their personal use,” Chowhan said. There are presently 10 cabins in the hospital with the hospital staff. Only eight of them would probably function now.
