Golay speaks on freedom of religion at Pre-Christmas Prayer Summit

EOI, GANGTOK, 22 DECEMBER 2023 : Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang on Friday attended the State Level Pre- Christmas Prayer Summit Sikkim 2023 at the Paljor Stadium in Gangtok. Earlier, he participated in a rally from MG Marg till Paljor Stadium which witnessed cultural performances by various communities and display of pipe band by Paljor Namgyal Girls School. 

He said the festival of Christmas iwas not just about decorations but to display selfless love and brotherhood towards the community. He spoke about freedom of religion given under the current Government and mentioned about the visit of the Dalai Lama and congregation of pandits at Jorethang; a testament of religious freedom in the State. Representatives from various churches of Sikkim welcomed him to the event.

IPR, Gangtok 22 December 2023: Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang attended the State Level Pre-Christmas Prayer Summit Sikkim 2023 as the Chief Guest here at Paljor Stadium today. 

IPR, Gangtok, 22 December 2023 ; Chief Minister who was accompanied by Madam Krishna Rai was accorded a warm welcome by Minister LN Sharma, Mr GT Dhungel MLA Upper Tadong, Mr Jacob Khaling Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr PW Lepcha, President Organising Committee and diginitaries from various churches around Sikkim. 

Earlier, Chief Minister along with other dignitaries participated in the rally from MG Marg till Paljor Stadium which witnessed cultural performances by various communities and display of pipe band by Paljor Namgyal Girls School.

Chief Minister in his brief address, extended warm welcome to the guest speakers for their attendance. The Chief Minister thanked the guest speakers for their presence which has bought joy and wisdom to countless individuals. He appreciated the efforts of Dr Paul Dhrinakaran for bringing in positive impact in the society. 

Further, he stated that the festival of Christmas is not just about decorations but to display selfless love and brotherhood towards the community. He hoped that Christmas is the season where individuals can work for the betterment of the community. 

Touching on the latest development in the State, he spoke about freedom of religion given under the current Government. He mentioned the arrival of His Holiness Dalai Lama and congregation of pandits at Jorethang which is a testament of religious freedom in the State. In his concluding remarks, the Chief Minister thanked the guest speakers and the Christian community of Sikkim for attending the programme. 

During the programme, Chief Minister was felicitated by the organising committee.

Likewise, guest speakers from Jesus Calls Ministry, Dr Paul Dhinakaran, Mr Samuel Dhrinakaran and renowned Worship leader Mr Dayanand Rao were also felicitated through the hands of Chief Minister.

The programme had the presence of Cabinet Ministers, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, MLAs, MP Lok Sabha, Chairpersons, Advisors, GMC ruling bodies, Zilla Panchayats, Panchayats, SP Gangtok, concerned Government Officials, Church leaders and devotees from various churches across the State.
