"Activist Urges Stricter NRC Implementation and Action Against Narco-Terrorists Amidst Manipur's Ongoing Turmoil"

KalimNews, Imphal, 21 September 2023 : In a press conference held in Lucknow on Monday, social activist Maheshwar Thounaojam, who also serves as the national secretary of the Republican Party of India (RPI-Athawale) and represents the Meitei community, addressed the ongoing turmoil in Manipur. Thounaojam emphasized the significance of May 3, 2023, as a dark day in Manipur's history due to ethnic violence.

Thounaojam stressed the urgent need for strict implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Manipur, viewing the ongoing clashes as a national threat. He called for the expulsion of Kuki narco-terrorists from Indian territory and termination of any agreements with Kuki militants due to their involvement in illegal activities.

Furthermore, during the press conference, Thounaojam shed light on the underlying causes of the violence. He mentioned that the Kuki narco-terrorists had been planning these events for an extended period. The Chief Minister of Manipur had initiated a 'War on Drugs' campaign to combat poppy cultivation and illegal drug trafficking in the region. Efforts to preserve reserved forests were also underway. However, on May 3, a rally was organized under the pretext of opposing the inclusion of Meiteis in the Schedule Tribe list. This rally, Thounaojam asserted, was a deceptive strategy to enable the ethnic cleansing of Meiteis from Kuki-dominated areas, in stark contrast to Naga-dominated areas, where violence had not erupted.

In addition to Maheshwar Thounaojam's address, Davnesh Dixit also participated in the press conference to express his support for the Meiteis and shed light on the truth surrounding the ongoing crisis in Manipur. Dixit disclosed that he had personally witnessed disturbing evidence, including photos and videos depicting the current crisis. He particularly mentioned a video that showcased the brutal killings of two Meiteis by Kuki individuals. These revelations further underscore the gravity of the situation in Manipur.
