Landslide in Sikkim : Death in Gyalshing

EOI, IPR,GANGTOK, AUGUST 25, 2023 :  Avhiyan Chhetri, son of Nar Bahadur Chhetri and Dil Maya Subba, died early on Friday at Lower Lungzik in the Sardong-Lungzik gram panchayat unit under the Gyalshing district of Sikkim due to heavy rainfall, followed by landslides caused by erosion from rainwater. 
Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang expressed grief over the tragic incident. “It is with a heavy heart that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family during this incredibly difficult time. May the family find strength in the support of the government, their friends, family, relatives, and the community during this painful time,” he said. 
“Our thoughts and prayers are eternally with the family as they navigate through this dark chapter of their lives.” 
Under the direction of the Chief Minister, the district authorities, led by the District Commissioner of Gyalshing, took. Immediate steps to address the situation and support the grieving family. The district administration disbursed an ex-gratia amount of Rs. 4 lakh to the bereaved family to assist them during this challenging period. 
Other urgent aids were provided to help the family cope with the aftermath of the disaster. An additional sum of Rs. 5 lakh will be extended from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to help the family at the time of need.
