Home Minister Amit Shah assures that there will be no separate administration in Manipur

Shah has reportedly assured
that there will be no separate
administrations in Manipur.
The Home Minister assured
this to the 13 (thirteen) members
delegation of the Coordinating
Committee on Manipur
Integrity (COCOMI) during
their meeting at his official
residence in New Delhi on
August 25 at 10.30 am.
They
were invited by the Home Minister
through North East in charge
of the BJP Dr. Sambit
Patra.
Highlighting the details of
the meeting, the COCOMI
Media Coordinator,
Thokchom Somorendra said
that during the meeting the
Union Home Minister emphasized
a firm stance against all
forms of infiltration into
Manipur’s territory.
Measures
are being implemented to register
immigrants using biometrics,
including retina scans.
Stringent action will be taken
against all forms of infiltration
into Manipur’s territory Amit
Shah assured and added that
the government is expediting
border fencing in the Manipur
sector to address concerns
about mass infiltration in
Manipur.
The COCOMI team lead by
its coordinator Jeetendra
Ningomba were also reportedly
assured full proof security
on National Highways.
As
conveyed by the COCOMI
media coordinator the Union
Home Minister also ensured
the movement and distribution
of commodities in the
state. He however stated that
‘this’ can be possible with the
support from both side of the
communities.
He also assured
necessary deployment of
convoys to secure the highways
shall be ensured in few
days.
On the other hand, the
Home Minister appealed for
peace in the state and requested
COCOMI to initiate
the lead role.
Amit Shah also
appealed COCOMI was encouraged
to initiate dialogues
with responsible Kuki leaders
and groups to facilitate problem-solving
and peace-building.
The COCOMI statement
further stated that after meeting
the Union Home Minister
the delegation also meet the
Director of Intelligence Bureau
and Security Advisor.
In the subsequent detailed
discussion with the Director of the
Intelligence Bureau and Security
Advisor Northeast Mr. AK
Mishra, the delegation of
COCOMI presented the complexities
of issues affecting
Manipur, including illegal immigration,
cross-border narco-terrorism,
exploitation of forest resources,
and SoO violations’, COCOMI
Media Coordinator, Thokchom
Somorendra said.
He said that the MHA officials
acknowledged and took note
of these critical points.
The Director of the Intelligence
Bureau provided insights
into the current crisis in Manipur
and its understanding of critical
issues.
After thorough discussion,
the officials urged COCOMI
to prioritize the immediate measures
outlined in the letter.
They also emphasized the
importance of continued engagement
and cooperation with the
government and stakeholders to
facilitate a quicker resolution of
the crisis.
The COCOMI delegations
were represented by 13 Members
