GTA Sabhasad Health promises seachange in hospitals in the hills

YAWAN GURUNG, EOI, MIRIK, 4 AUGUST 2023 : Sabhasad incharge of Health of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration Arun Sigchi has resolved to bring changes in the hospitals of Darjeeling and Kalimpong during his four-year tenure in the GTA.“Chief Executive of GTA Anit Thapahas given me the responsibility. We are working faithfully to provide proper medical services to the common citizens,” he said.
A new OPD would soon be set up in Darjeeling. Due to the problem of limited space, a state-of-the-art OPD would be set up at Victoria. All hospitals would be equipped with BioMetric and C CTV cameras. He said efforts were on to build a medical college in Kalimpong.
Dialysis machines will be available in Kalimpong soon. They were conducting MRI and CT scan in the Darjeeling District Hospital. This was for free.
“We still have a feeling there is no good treatment and medicines in government hospitals. This sentiment should be abandoned.”
He urged doctors and nurses to go to work on time and said no doctor should be in the private chamber during the duty hours.
He said a Block Primary Health Centre would be built at Panighatta and the construction of the Mirik Sub-Divisional Hospital would begin after the monsoon. He urged the Block Medical Officer Health to bring an auto analyzer in Mirik Hospital soon.
