Vote peacefully, says Hill Trinamool; asks feuding leaders to settle differences
YAWAN GURUNG, EOI, MIRIK, 5 JULY 2023 : Campaigning for Trinamool Congress panchayat election candidates Sangeet Rai and Alina Rai at Okaity no. 9 village and Adarsh Gram, Hattisuray, on Tuesday, Hill Trinamool Congress Chairman L. B. Rai appealed to everyone to vote peacefully.
Appealing to MLA Neeraj Zimba and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration Public Relations Officer S. P. Sharma to settle their differences, he said after a long time the people of the villages had got the opportunity to elect their representatives. “ It will be good if the elections are held in a clean environment,” he said.
“There is peace in the hills. Everyone is enthusiastically participating in the great festival of democracy called elections. In this position, no one, whether in the ruling party or the opposition, wants to see unrest.
So, it will be appropriate for everyone to participate in the election by maintaining peace. It is natural for an individual to win or lose, but everyone should maintain peace and observe the election as a festival of democracy.
It will be unfortunate if an environment is created where voters have to vote out of fear.” Claiming that the victory of the two Trinamool candidates was certain, he said he was aware of the basic problems of the area and promised that initiatives to solve them would be taken after the formation of the gram panchayat board.
The tasks which could not be solved through the gram panchayat would be solved through the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration.
Calling up on other candidates to come and help Sangeet Rai and Alina Rai, he said this would help further in the development of the region.
Sangeet Rai said since he was a youth, solving the problems and meeting the needs of the youths would be his first priority.
He said he was seized of the shortages and problems of the area. L. B. Rai and GTA Sabhasad Dhruba Bomzan had already given assurances to develop the area as a hub of rural tourism, advance women and youth in the employment sector and provide government assistance and concession to senior citizens.
