Panchyat Election in Hills started smoothly: Peaceful polling 17.56 percent poll till 11 am

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 8 July 2023: Panchayat Election in the Darjeeling and Kalimpong Hills started at 7 am today and is being conducted smoothly. 

In Kalimpong election is being conducted in 262 polling stations . Of these there are 29 polling stations in Pedong Block, 52 in Lava, 68 in Gorubathan and 113 in Kalimpong Blocks.

So far till 11 am the rate of poll in the district was 17.56 percent. In the Block of Kalimpong, it was 19.98, in Gorubathan it was 17.37, in Lava it was 16.10 and in Pedong it was 16.77 percent.

The votes cast in each block is as follows: In Kalimpong Block  there are 32719 male and 33826 female voters (total-66545) out of which 7056 male and 6243 female voters (13299) exercised their voting right.

In Gorubathan there are 25220 male and 25934 female voters (total-51154) out of which 4469 male and 4419 female voters (total 8888) exercised their voting right.

In Pedong Block there are 12350 male and 12031 female voters (total-24381) out of which 2107 male and 1982 female voters (total 4089) exercised their voting right. 

In Lava Block there are 17065 male and 16497 female voters (total-33562) out of which 2854 male and 2551 female voters (total 5405) exercised their voting right.

Till 9 am the rate of poll in the district was 7.84 and in individual blocks of Kalimpong was 8.78, in Gorubathan was 7.88, in Lava 6.57 and in Pedong it was 6.95 percent.
