BJP candidate's minor daughter attacked in Kalimpong, vehicle vandalised.

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 8 July 2023, 7.00 pm: Four miscreants allegedly assaulted minor daughter of a BJP candidate in Kalimpong, they also vandalised a  vehicle.

The incident took place on Saturday, 8th July during the afternoon of the Poll day in Chhota Bhalukhop. According to the allegation BJP's candidate Eman Lepcha (Emanuel Lepcha), the miscreants referred the name of Sabhasad of GTA. They barged into the house of Lepcha, a resident of Lamini Gaon of Chhota Bhalukhop and a BJP candidate for Gram Panchayat member of Bhalukhop III-3 under Kalimpong Block assaulted Lepcha's 15 year old daughter in which her both wrists is injured with bruises and clothes torn. 

Lepcha was not at home during the time of incident, he was hospitalised due to illness. After the incident, he took release from the hospital and registered a complaint against four persons in the Kalimpong Police station. He mentioned that he has considered the crime against his property and assault to his daughter as personal attack and not political.  

Lepcha's FIR is made against four persons for the attack, identified by his daughter and another neighbour boy to be residents of the same village. He demanded prompt action against the attackers. 

Raju Bista, the BJP MP of Darjeeling constituency has expressed extreme anguish on the attack. In his facebook page he posted his statement stating that goons affiliated with the ruling party entered her house and destroyed the vehicle parked there. They also attacked her minor daughter. She has been severely injured  and traumatized. 

He has added that "despite all claims to the contrary, TMC and their alliance have spread political terrorism in the state. Our candidates have been attacked, their families attacked, their properties destroyed, and made to face constant harassment.

Through all this, the West Bengal State Election Commission, West Bengal and District Administration, and WB and District Police have functioned as frontline TMC cadres. They have actively sheltered and protected goons affiliated with the ruling party. I request all of them to remember that India is still a democratic country, and in a democracy the will of the people is supreme. Sooner, rather than later, TMC government is bound to fall in the state. All those officials who are working as TMC agents will be held accountable."

He has further stated " I also applaud the courage of our candidates, their families, and the voters, who despite negativities have turned out in huge number to vote for change. It is your collective strength that has made these goons in the grab of politicians panic. I request the voters to remain unfazed, and vote decisively to put an end to the reign of terror permanently."

"We will ensure all those involved in the heinous act of attacking a child today will have to face the full force of law. No one will be spared, and anyone trying to save those goons, they will also be made to face the law. We cannot allow goons to attack our children like this."

On the basis of the complaint, Kalimpong police has made an enquiry of the incident and also took statement of the daughter..
