On July 20,2020, during the pandemic, an order was issued from the office of the District Magistrate to give the ambulance to the Kalimpong District Hospital for a working period of two months.
Following the order, the Red Cross had handed over the ambulance which was in good condition to the Ambulance for Kalimpong gathering dust at Siliguri garage hospital. Later, the hospital was allowed to retain the ambulance till January2021.
While kept near the hospital premises, the condition of the ambulance had deteriorated. On August 9, 2021, the office of the District Magistrate ordered that the ambulance be deposited back to the Red Cross. But the ambulance is still gathering dust at a garage in Siliguri.
