Siliguri, Darjeeling ready to showcase tourism potentials to G20 delegates

EOI, SILIGURI, MARCH 31, 2023 : The potentials and prospects of tourism in the north Bengal region will be showcased to the delegates of the three-day Second G-20Tourism Working Group Meeting which will commence in Siliguri on Saturday. Union Tourism Secretary Arvind Singh said in a news conference in Siliguri at New Chamta on Friday that the main aim behind holding the meeting in Siliguri was to showcase the typical features of the area to the foreign delegates, particularly tea plantation and local art and culture. 
The tradition and history of various places in north Bengal would be placed before the foreign representatives. On Saturday morning, the G-20delegates will reach Siliguri by chartered flight. From the airport, they will go directly to the resort on New Chamta. 
From there, they will leave for Kurseong and visit Makaibari tea garden and various other places. In the evening, the beauty of plucking tea leaves in the moonlight will be presented to the foreign delegates. After having dinner, they will return to Siliguri at night. On Sunday issues relating to north Bengal will be presented to the delegates in a meeting and discussions will be held on how to improve the tourism sector further.
On April 3, the delegates will go to Darjeeling. They will return to Siliguri in the evening after visiting Darjeeling,
Ghoom station, Batasia Loop and Raj Bhavan. The foreign delegates will return to Delhi from Bagdogra airport on April 4.More than 130 delegates from G20member countries, invitee countries, international organizations and tourism industry partners will attend the even
