
Raju Bista stalls moving of items from Kurseong Forest College
PRASHANT ACHARYA, EOI, SILIGURI, MARCH 17, 2023 : BJP M. P. of Darjeeling Raju Bista on Friday discussed with Union Minister for Environment Forest and Climate Change Bhupendra Yadav and Director General of Forests Chandra Prakash Goyal the issue of upgrading of Eastern Forest Rangers College, Kurseong, to a full-fledged research institution Bista said: “We discussed the question of upgrading of the Eastern Forest Rangers College to a full-fledged research institution, and the modalities associated with it.”
Recently a letter had been sent from the Director Forest Education based in Dehradun asking for the shifting of ideal and unused items of the Kurseong institute to Byrnihat in Assam. Bista requested Bhupendra not to move any items from Kurseong till the announcement for upgradation of the institute was finalized.
DG Forest Chandra Prakash Goyal immediately issued instructions to disregard the letter Raju Bista stalls moving of items from Kurseong Forest College concerning moving of unused items from Kurseong.
Bista is aid the Minister assured him that the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests was working towards addressing the request for the upgradation of EFRC to a full-fledged research institution, and multiple avenues were being explored for the same.
Bista said. “I am absolutely certain that the EFRC infrastructure can be put to better use for the benefit of the people from our region. I am committed to ensuring the best use of the existing EFRC infrastructure,” he said
