Prem Pdddar takes over as VC of Darjeeling Hill University

PRASHANT ACHARYA, EOI, KALIMPONG, MARCH 23, 2023 : Kalimpong born Professor Prem Poddar has once again been appointed as Vice Chancellor (VC) of Darjeeling Hill University. The appointment is for three months. Poddar will take over charge from Friday morning. On Thursday he met Vice Chancellor of North Bengal University Om Prakash Mishra at the NBU office.
Poddar will also meet Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA)chairman Anit Thapa before resuming the office at Mungpoo. 
Speaking to newspersons at NBU, Poddar said: “Well there are lots of things to do. I have to take charge of history, look into the files. It has been a fluctuating, transitory kind of situation now. Let’s see, we will look at the priorities of what can be done. If I am allowed to, I would like to do lots of things. We don’t have the blue print right now. The campus will have to be developed a lot." 
Poddar was a Professor in Cultural Encounters at Rosklide University in Denmark. He has been a Humboldt Senior Fellow, AHRC Fellow at Southampton and Carlsberg Fellow at Cambridge University. 
He has taught in India, Britain, and Denmark as Associate Professor in Postcolonial Studies. He is the author of many articles and books Darjeeling Hills University is a public state university in Mungpoo. It was established in 2021 under The Greenfield University Act, 2018
